It has been over four months since Jaganmohan Reddy assumed charge in Andhra Pradesh. While it is customary for most bigwigs to greet the new chief minister, the Telugu film industry has largely stayed away. Part of the reason is the proximity of many of its leading lights to Chandrababu Naidu and the fact that film stars like Pawan Kalyan and Balakrishna who are in Andhra politics, are fiercely anti-YSRCP.
That will change on 14 October with Megastar Chiranjeevi and son Ram Charan calling on Jagan. While this is essentially to thank the CM for allowing six shows of `Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ in Andhra Pradesh theatres,
Chiranjeevi will also use the opportunity to invite Jagan to see the movie which is the story of the first freedom fighter, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy from Kurnool in Rayalaseema region.
Jagan had reportedly invited Chiranjeevi to his swearing-in ceremony in May 2019 in Vijayawada but the actor had stayed away. This meeting could be an ice-breaker of sorts between the YSRCP and Tollywood.
Of course, Chiranjeevi had also invited Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to watch the movie and she had appreciated it after the screening. It is to be seen if Chiranjeevi, who is now completely out of politics, will meet Chandrababu Naidu as well to invite him to a screening. Naidu had greeted Chiranjeevi rather warmly on Twitter on his birthday in August this year.
