The Telangana government is delighted at the abundant rainfall in the capital city of Hyderabad. It is even more happy that the main road and streets have been converted into a natural lake in Borabanda area in the bargain.
“See, Borabanda is located in a busy area and immediately converts all the buildings on the main road into lake-facing apartments and office complexes. A lake-facing view will be a major attraction and will give a fillip to the real estate sector and also improve our property tax collections,” an official of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) told Tenali Rama.
The Tourism department has decided to include the Borabanda locality as a destination on the city tours of Hyderabad. While the tourists will have the option of using boats to move from one end of Borabanda to the other, there is also a proposal to include Zip cycling (see pic below) to make the tour more adventurous.
“We also plan to make this entire area into a waterlogged spot 365 days of the year and encourage waterways. We appeal to Union minister Nitin Gadkari to consider this proposal,” said the GHMC official.
In areas in the city that get dried up, there is a proposal to create a lunar surface by ensuring the roads are not repaired. All potholes will be tagged with GI and left untouched. Any samaritan who tries to fill up the potholes will be fined.
“We witnessed the huge interest created by Chandrayaan 2. We will call these spots as `Vikram On the Moon’, after the lander that was supposed to land on the moon. In this case, every Hyderabadi can experience the lunar effect and actually land on the craters of the moon,” said an official of the Telangana Tourism department.
This project of Hyderabad is reportedly facing stiff competition from localities in Mumbai. With reports that Akshay Kumar may do a movie to promote the potholes on Mumbai roads, Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is being roped in to do a movie titled `Arjun Roady’.
