Superstar Rajinikanth came earlier in the week. Lady Superstar Nayanthara came on Friday. That was enough to send devotees and priests into a frenzy alike at the Athi Varadar temple in Kanchipuram. This is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. 

The Athi Varadar idol is taken out of the temple pond once in 40 years and people pray to it for 48 days. The idol will be placed in the Ananta Saras tank on Saturday at the Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple. Athi Varadar will emerge from the temple tank next in 2059.
