There is turmoil at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Hyderabad where the students are strike since 8 July. They are protesting against the steep hike in hostel fee.

Earlier it was Rs 8700 to be paid in monthly instalments while now it has been hiked to Rs 53700 to be paid upfront. Students say those from economically poor families cannot afford to pay this lumpsum.

Eight students on hunger strike from 12 July. The health of four students is a matter of concern. While students are unhappy with the facilities provided for the fee charged, the administration is yet to react to the students strike.
