The new order of YS Jaganmohan Reddy is bound to put a lot of pressure on district collectors and joint collectors in Andhra Pradesh but will be welcomed by the people at large. At a time when getting a hospital bed is a herculean task even for the well connected, the Andhra Pradesh chief minister has ordered that a hospital bed must be made available to a patient within 30 minutes of the request being made.
“Otherwise the district collector and Joint collector will be held responsible,” he said.
The announcement has come at a time when Andhra Pradesh has crossed the one lakh Covid 19 positive cases mark. The worry is that 50000 of those cases have been reported just in the last one week according to government data.
The opposition too has been highlighting the struggle to get admission to hospitals. On Tuesday, Chandrababu Naidu tweeted about a pregnant woman who waited outside Rajahmundry government hospital for five hours to get herself tested for Covid19.
