Telangana EAMCET likely in August last week

The Telangana EAMCET is likely to be conducted in the last week of August. The EAMCET in which close to 2 lakh students take part, is the entrance exam conducted for admission to Engineering, medical, agriculture colleges in Telangana. It was to be held in July and was postponed due to Covid 19 pandemic. Close to 2 lakh students take the EAMCET exam in Telangana.

Kerala conducted its entrance exams for similar courses on 16 July while Karnataka is slated to hold them on 30 and 31 July.

According to highly placed sources in the Commissionerate of Technical Education in Telangana, TCS which is the service provider to conduct the online exam has offered multiple windows in both August and September when Telangana can choose to conduct the exam.

It is learnt that dates which were offered in the first and second week of August as well as September have been rejected. One because the first half of August is too close and two, September is when JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, NEET are to be conducted and a large number of students from Telangana write these exams. Therefore the last week of August seems the most convenient period.

The process of finalising the dates will also depend on how the Covid 19 situation pans out in Telangana, the number of cases being reported daily, the recovery rate, the number of containment zones etc. So far several rounds of oral discussions have taken place.

When the exams will be held will also be linked to the proposed date for the start of the next academic calendar. As of now the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has said the second, third and fourth year classes will start on 17 August in Telangana. For the first year, the date fixed is 1 November.

Since September is the JEE and NEET month,, all the counselling process for EAMCET related seats will take place in October.
