Government offices to be repainted in Andhra Pradesh

It is something that should not have happened in the first place. Now the Andhra Pradesh High court has asked the government to repaint all the government offices and panchayat offices in the next ten days. That is because after the YSRCP came to power in May 2019, all these offices were painted in green, white and blue party colours. The court has asked for a compliance report from the Chief Secretary within two weeks.

The decision of the government to make these offices look like YSRCP offices had come in for criticism. Such was the fervour that even graveyards got a fresh coat of YSRCP paint. With local body polls round the corner, this is seen as giving an unfair advantage to the ruling party.

With both the Telugu Desam and YSRCP guilty of splurging on paint, it is perhaps time to bring in a Model Code of Painting in Andhra Pradesh.
