Home ministry will address the CBI Joint Director issue, says Vijayasai Reddy

On 30 December, Vijayasai Reddy of the YSR Congress wrote to the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Law minister and Director of the CBI, urging them not to appoint a Telugu officer as Joint Director of the CBI in Hyderabad.

Alleging that Telugu officers invariably come under the influence of “strong local connections, both political and social in nature”, Reddy alleged that Chandrababu Naidu passed on instructions to the former Joint Director VV Laxminarayana who was investigating the Jaganmohan Reddy-related Disproportionate Assets cases. While Jagan is Accused number 1 in the cases, Vijayasai Reddy is Accused number 2.

Reddy also claimed that the present JD of CBI in Hyderabad, AYV Krishna is a Telugu officer “with strong political inclinations”. He also accused Naidu of using his influence to bring another Telugu officer to work at his behest in the CBI.

“Telugu officers are invariably partisan in nature and therefore I wrote that only non-Telugu officers should be appointed to head the CBI office in Hyderabad. The Home ministry has replied to me saying they will address the issue,” Reddy told Filter Kaapi.
