With the BJP opting out of the race and the Shiv Sena and NCP unable to provide the numbers, sources have revealed that the Maharashtra Governor briefly explored the possibility of asking Ram Gopal Varma to explore possibilities of making a Sarkar.
“We thought Ram Gopal Varma has the experience of making Sarkar. After his first Sarkar was a hit, he ensured Sarkar Raj again. People like that as well so he got the chance to put together Sarkar 3 as well. We checked with him since we were also looking for Sarkar 4 as BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP had failed in their bid,” said a Raj Bhavan spokesperson.
But Varma who is more focused on Andhra Pradesh politics these days, has not reverted if he can produce a Sarkar at short notice. Especially when his chief ministerial candidate Subhash Nagre is not keeping well.
When Tenali Rama contacted Nagre’s family members if he would be in a position to take up the top job at Mantralaya, they referred to his famous dialogue from the 1980s when he frowned upon the “cesspool of Indian politics”.
But what spoiled Varma’s chances was an Intelligence Bureau dossier on Varma that pointed out that he had earlier given a break to underworld dons like Bhiku Mhatre and had connections with sandalwood brigand Veerappan as well. That’s when the Governor decided to recommend President’s Rule in Maharashtra.
