Rather early on in his acting career, Ajmal Ameer has become chief minister twice. First in the Tamil film `Ko’ that was dubbed in Telugu as `Rangam’ and now playing Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jaganmohan Reddy in Ramgopal Varma’s `Kamma Rajyam lo Kadapa Reddlo’.
While the CM’s role in `Ko’ was fictional with negative shades and Ameer could bring his own nuance to it, his role in KRKR is that of a real-life politician who is in power at this point in time. Which is why it was imperative to get the mannerisms and body language of Jagan just right.
Though Ameer had never met Jagan in person, he saw a lot of his videos and tried to be as truthful as far as Jagan’s peculiar way of moving his hands while addressing a gathering, holding the hands together while listening and walk with his head tilted to one side are concerned.

Though Varma has come under attack for being unethical in the manner in which he has attributed motives to Chandrababu Naidu in the name of fiction, Ajmal Ameer’s look and dialogue delivery as Jagan has looked the part.
There is an interesting Kerala connect as well. Mammotty played Jagan’s father, the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and now Ameer, who hails from Aluva in Kerala, is playing Jagan.
