An error during the oath taking ceremony of AP High court Chief Justice

It was a slip of the tongue that had to be corrected, keeping in mind matters of protocol. Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, the new Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High court, while taking his oath said “Chief Justice of the High court of Madhya Pradesh’ by mistake. It was probably because the Chief Justice had served as a judge in the Madhya Pradesh High court earlier.

The mistake was noticed by the Governor BB Harichandan’s officials and a second oath was reportedly arranged for the Chief Justice away from public glare in the VIP room of the complex in Amaravati where the ceremony took place.

It is not known if the document in the CJ’s hand read `Madhya Pradesh’ or it was an oversight on part of the CJ.
