The administrative unit in every village in Andhra Pradesh has undergone a transformation. As reported by Filter Kaapi earlier, all the village secretariat offices have now been painted in YSRCP colours of white, green and blue. In fact, even the balloons put up on the occasion were of the same three colours. This, the criticism is, results in the politicisation of administration in 11158 villages in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
But look beyond the colours and you will find there is something more important that has happened. Gone is the extreme focus on computerisation of administration. Jaganmohan Reddy has ensured there is a human interface with the villagers. And since the optics ensures that the YSRCP image is very in the face, this should also help the party at the grassroots level.
Employment at the ground level is another big development that has taken place. In one go, 1.26 lakh new employees have been recruited. Apart from this, another two lakh village volunteers to be paid Rs 5000 per month have been hired. The aim is to ensure the services reach the people. The entire delivery system will also be monitored by an outside agency, most likely to be picked up by Prashant Kishor’s I-PAC.
