When it comes to celebrating a movie, no town can quite match Bhimavaram. It decked itself up for Prabhas-starrer Saaho in August with a 200 feet long wall banner and for Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, it has done better with a 250 feet long banner.
But what took the cake was Chiranjeevi’s daughter-in-law Upasana’s reaction to it. She tweeted : Humbled by your love. Love the flex but once it starts to wither, pls send it to @cancelledplans.club.” It showed Upasana’s concern for the environment.
It must be pointed out that both Prabhas and Chiranjeevi hail from West Godavari district, where Bhimavaram is located. But the love of their film fans did not convert into political support. In the 2019 elections, Chiranjeevi’s brother Pawan Kalyan who has lent his voice to Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, lost from Bhimavaram. And a decade ago in the 2009 elections, Chiranjeevi lost from Palacole, a stone’s throw away from Bhimavaram.
But today is not the day for politics. At different theatres in Andhra Pradesh, large cutouts have made an appearance celebrating the 151st movie of the Megastar and his most ambitious movie till date. The idea is also to create a hype to take advantage of the holiday on 2 October and the Dussehra holidays.
