G Vivek, former MP who quit the TRS to join the BJP, has spoken out against a Congress-TRS joint collaboration to win the elections to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Friday. Vivek’s whose nomination for the President’s post were rejected, alleges that the TRS leadership is backing former India captain and ex-MP from Moradabad, Mohammed Azharuddin for the HCA president’s post this time on condition that if he wins, he will be succeeded by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha after three years.

“When I was HCA President, Kavitha had requested me to let her become President after my term got over. I did not encourage her because as it is, the KCR family controls just about everything in Telangana. She wanted the ownership of a club as well. My differences with the family started from there,” claimed Vivek.
Kavitha lost the Lok Sabha elections from Nizamabad in May this year to D Arvind of the BJP and since then, has been maintaining a low profile.
Vivek’s panel has fielded Prakash C Jain for the President’s post and he will be up against Azhar. Vivek says that TRS Working President and Kavitha’s brother KT Rama Rao (in pic) is calling up club secretaries in order to enlist votes for Azhar.

There are a total of 226 votes that will be cast for each post. This includes 217 club nominees and nine international players. While Azhar is sitting pretty with the support of the powerful Shivlal Yadav and Arshad Ayub groups in HCA and the political backing, Vivek says the former skipper’s profile will make no difference in a HCA election.
