Kurnool’s landmark comes to Hyderabad for Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru

Kurnool seems to be flavour of the season for Telugu filmmakers. Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is the story of an unknown freedom fighter from Kurnool and now a significant part of Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru is set in the Andhra town.

The makers of Sarileru Neekevvaru in which Mahesh plays an army officer released a still from the film which shows the hero standing outside the Kondareddy Buruju or Kondareddy Fort, the landmark of Kurnool situated in the heart of the town. Except that this 12th century monument has been recreated brilliantly by art director AS Prakash at the Ramoji Film City on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Director tweeted the photograph of the set, pointing out that 16 years ago, the location became iconic. That is because the Buruju was part of Okkadu, one of Mahesh’s biggest hits.
