The proof of the pudding is in the eating. For Jaganmohan Reddy, the proof of the sensibility in going in for reverse tendering in different projects was in how much money he would be able to save for Andhra Pradesh.
The YSRCP government claims it has saved Rs 58 crore of public money in Polavaram irrigation project reverse tendering process. For the 65th package of Polavaram Left connectivity works, Max Infra company bid for the tender at 15.6 percent less cost.
“The same company during Chandrababu Naidu’s government had bid the tender for excess 4.8 percent which is an another example of corruption during the TDP government. Rs 58 crore of government money have been saved in this reverse tendering process. It is proved that Chandrababu Naidu increased the Polavaram budget unnecessarily,” said a release from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The decision of the Jagan government to cancel earlier contracts alleging corruption and go in for reverse tenders was opposed by the Centre’s Water Resources ministry and the Polavaram Project Authority. The Andhra government now says it stands vindicated. It has claimed that it will save close to Rs 3500 crore if it revisits more contracts in the Rs 55000 crore Polavaram irrigation project.
