Andhra’s tit-for-tat politics in the virtual space

Yesterday, Filter Kaapi Live had published a story about how Andhra Pradesh’s revenge politics is ugly. We received some feedback from our esteemed readers that we were accusing Jaganmohan Reddy of practising tit-for-tat politics while exonerating Chandrababu Naidu.

But the article, if the readers had bothered to read it carefully, had pointed out Naidu’s hypocrisy because his regime had detained Jagan at Vizag airport and put Mudragada Padmanabhan under house arrest, both in 2017. Our position is that this kind of politics does the state no good.

In fact, this is no longer restricted to the real world. The virtual world too is full of tit-for-tat measures. Nara Lokesh tweeted complaining about photographs of his father had been morphed to make him look like a terrorist. He asked if the YSRCP government would take action against those who had indulged in such photoshop jobs.

The YSRCP state coordinator Harsha Vardhana Reddy retorted by putting out an old post from the TDP Facebook page in which photographs of Jaganmohan Reddy had been morphed to show him holding a gun and an axe in both hands. The inference is that Jagan believes in violence in contrast to Naidu, who as the text says, brought industry to Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. Another morphed photograph shows Jagan getting a shock from the 24×7 power supply given by the Naidu regime.

“If my post is wrong, what about the post you have put on your official TDP page? Morphing, not only you know, even we know,” reads the caption in the tweet.
