Andhra Panchayat offices to be painted in YSRCP colours

Soon it will be difficult to distinguish a YSR Congress party office from a Gram Panchayat building in Andhra Pradesh. That is because an order has been issued by Girija Shankar, Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development in Andhra Pradesh to give a fresh coat of paint to all the 11,158 gram panchayat offices in 13 districts. The catch is that the colour code selected includes the YSRCP colours of white, blue and green.

Not only that, every building will also have a photograph of chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, covering one-fourth of the surface of the name board. The design of the building with the colour code has been provided by the department (pic above)

Sources in the YSRCP told Filter Kaapi that it was the cadre wish that the blue colour to represent the weaker sections and green colour to denote the farmer should be part of the panchayat offices to establish an immediate connect with the two important segments of the rural population. But even then why should the government that claims it wants to provide a different kind of governance, want to project its party at government expense so blatantly.

Both the TDP and BJP have objected to the colour code issued by the government, saying public money is being spent to promote the ruling party. For the TDP, however, it may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black as it had painted the Anna canteens that provided subsidised food in yellow colour which is the TDP colour and put up NTR and Chandrababu Naidu photographs as well.
