LeT terrorists have sneaked into Tamil Nadu disguised as Hindus : Intel alert

Tamil Nadu is on high alert after intelligence inputs to the state agencies indicated that a six-member Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) team had entered the state through Sri Lanka. This group that reportedly consists of one Pakistani and five Sri Lankan Tamil Muslims are said to have disguised themselves as Hindus and may carry out terror attacks in Tamil Nadu.

The input points out that the intended targets of this group of six include places of religious importance, tourist locations that witness high foreigners traffic. Vital security installations too could be under the radar. Coimbatore in particular is on specific alert with apprehension that the group may have taken refuge in the communally sensitive city.

The Intelligence machinery especially in the coastal areas have been asked to be on alert to watch on movements of strangers. Boats and ferries too will be closely monitored.

The Tamil Nadu police would not take this warning lightly in view of what happened earlier this year in Sri Lanka. More so when the infiltrators, according to the input, are of Lankan origin. Indian agencies had tipped off Lanka about the possibility of blasts well before the Easter Day blasts at multiple locations in Colombo and other cities. A Lanka-based outfit called National Thowheeth Jamaat was identified as the one responsible for carrying out the deadly blasts.
