This is the MDMK’s decision to crowdfund for its party activities. And it could not have come at a better time. Vaiko’s stock and popularity has gone up ever since he made that emotional speech in the Rajya Sabha on Kashmir and it was shared widely over social media platforms.

Vaiko put the Cash for Selfie rule into effect when he was travelling to Krishnagiri town in Tamil Nadu. Halting at Ambur town on the way, he found a stream of admirers wanting to click a selfie with Vaiko. But only those who paid for it, were allowed to have Vaiko in the frame. 

This will be a new for the public in Tamil Nadu because it is more used to getting money from politicians at election time.
