When television studios get flooded and anchors drown

Studio vfx are a commonly used ploy to take the television anchor to the location. Virtually, that is.

But there are times when they only end up looking insensitive on air. This anchor on Kannada channel BTV in order to convey the plight of the people in flood-hit areas, drowned in virtual water.

Maybe this is to give competition to the real life intrepid reporters who have been performing stunts in real life in flood-hit areas. Like these reporters from both sides of the India-Pakistan border, putting themselves to grave risk.

This is not the first time when studio effects have been executed rather horrendously. Last year, when actor Sridevi died in a bathtub in her hotel room in Dubai, studios were converted into bathrooms with bathtubs making an appearance virtually on your living room telly. Or when the rail accident took place in Amritsar in October 2018.
