`Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ : The freshness of the pairing

The trailer of Dulquer Salmaan’s `Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal’ (which translates to `If eyes can steal each other’) was unveiled on the Malayalam-Tamil-Hindi actor on Sunday. It is a Tamil romantic thriller directed by Desingh Periyasamy.

It is a fresh pairing with Dulquer paired opposite Ritu Varma, who shot to fame with Telugu superhit `Pelli Choopulu’ in 2016. While her lead actor in that movie Vijay Deverakonda has become quite a hearthrob and a leading star of south Indian cinema, especially Telugu, Ritu has been more choosy with her movie projects, doing only a couple of cameo roles in the last three years. `KKK’ will pitch her back in the main lead and which way her career goes from here, will depend on how the movie fares.

The rather interesting sounding title is a line from a song sung by Mano in Mani Ratnam’s Thiruda Thiruda, set to music by AR Rahman. Interestingly, the music of KKK is composed by a band called Masala Coffee. The movie has been shot in Chennai, Goa and Delhi.

The trailer has its moments like when Ritu’s character introduces herself to Dulquer saying “Meera”. And he immediately replies, “I am in love with you, Meera.”

The interesting bit in the trailer are a couple of glimpses of director Gautam Vasudev Menon. Is he playing the antagonist, we don’t know yet. But if he is slated to go the Anurag Kashyap way as an actor, Filter Kaapi is all for it.
