[Video] Yediyurappa gets a fourth shot at power

BS Yediyurappa will be sworn in as the chief minister of Karnataka for the fourth time. The Governor will swear him in at 6 pm on Friday evening.

The decision to stake claim after two days of deliberations, after the collapse of the HD Kumaraswamy government on Tuesday. The BJP has 105 MLAs in the 224 member Karnataka assembly, eight short of a majority. But with the rebels MLAs siding with them, the BJP will hope to manage the numbers in the House. Once the byelections are held, the BJP which won 26 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in May 2019, will hope to win a majority of the seats to cross the 113 half way mark.

  1. As long as BJP high command does not allow BSY a free hand things may work in Karnataka. BSY also cannot afford to function the way he did hitherto and endanger his Government in a faction ridden State unit of BJP. A spell of President”s Rule will be better. We will have to wait and watch the Speaker’s next moves which could be earlier than expected and create problems for BJP.
