The BJP has 105 MLAs in the 224 member Karnataka assembly, eight short of a majority. But with the rebels MLAs siding with them, the BJP will hope to manage the numbers in the House. Once the byelections are held, the BJP which won 26 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in May 2019, will hope to win a majority of the seats to cross the 113 half way mark.
