It was a Pawan Kalyan with a sartorial difference when he met party leaders and some of the party candidates at the Jana Sena office in Mangalagiri on Thursday. He had discarded his traditional Andhra attire in white for a blue kurta and denims.
The Powerstar also announced his decision to get into the media space. But unlike most political parties that launch a newspaper or a TV channel, Pawan will start a party mouthpiece.
Pawan will wear his editorial hat to communicate with the party workers about Jana Sena programmes, its position on different issues and action plans. He will use the magazine to communicate editorially with his party cadre.
It is intended to be like the Shiv Sena’s Saamna that takes a strong position on issues plaguing Maharashtra and the country. The magazine that has not yet been named, will be released in September and will be available both in print and digital format.
Incidentally in 2018, Pawan had launched `Shatagni’ magazine, a fortnightly priced at Rs 10. No one knows what happened to that venture.
Pawan made it clear he was not running away from the political theatre of Andhra Pradesh back to the cinema theatres. He told the gathering that he feels emboldened by the close to 7 per cent vote share the Jana Sena got and described the elections as an experience, not a defeat. While Pawan chose to see the glass half full, it was humiliating how Pawan himself lost from both Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka where he contested.
Pawan did not speak of 2024 but 2029. “It will be a ten-year-long battle and will need lot of will power, strength of character and patience to sail through,” he said.
