K Chandrasekhar Rao is one politician who has great conviction in his beliefs, even if they may seem irrational or superstitious to rationalists. Among one of his many such beliefs is that dropping coins made with copper and other metals in huge water bodies brings good luck to the people as well as prosperity to the state.
Which is precisely what KCR did while inspecting the Kaleshwaram Irrigation project at Mediggada on Tuesday. Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project is a multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari river in Telangana and KCR made it a point to drop coins into the river waters.
“I used to throw coins while crossing river Krishna and Godavari during my visit to the districts,” KCR had said on a previous occasion while making a presentation on the irrigation sector in the Telangana assembly.

He had also spoken about how during the Telangana agitation, the sight of the mighty Godavari river at Ramagundam used to bring tears to his eyes.
“I used to pray to the Almighty and drop coins. I feel my prayers are answered and the problems of Telangana are being addressed,” the CM had said.
KCR had also disclosed how his driver had standing instructions to collect coins every time they travelled to the districts. The CM had claimed he must have dropped the highest number of coins in the rivers of the country.
