With some of the exit polls predicting not great results for the JD(S) in Karnataka, party cadre are busy making the Almighty happy before the EVMs are unlocked on Thursday.
The party or at least its leadership is most worried about the outcome of Mandya where chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy is pitted against Independent candidate Sumalatha. Four of the ten exit polls have predicted a defeat for the gen-next of the Deve Gowda clan while the others have said he will scrape through by a narrow margin.
At a temple in Ramnagara on the outskirts of Bengaluru, party workers offered 101 coconuts at a temple, praying for a miracle and raising slogans in favour of Nikhil Kumaraswamy.
According to local media reports, the fans of Nikhil who is also an actor, brought a goat to the Srirangapatana Ahalya Devi temple and vowed its sacrifice if he wins the election.
The fans of Sumalatha, who is also an actor, too have offered pujas in various temples of Mandya district.
