Friday was a bad day for film productions. Two big budget movies being shot saw their sets going up in flames.
The first one was the set erected at Kokapet on the outskirts of Hyderabad for Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi’s period extravaganza `Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. A short circuit caused the fire and a reported loss of Rs 2 crore. Chiranjeevi’s actor son Ram Charan who is bankrolling the movie said everyone in the team was safe. Amitabh Bachchan and Tamannah too are part of the star cast.
Ironically, the first look motion poster of the movie had shown a similar fort being set on fire by Narasimha Reddy’s warriors.
The second mishap took place in Chennai’s Meenambakkam where a church set being erected for Vijay’s forthcoming film with director Atlee caught fire. The suspicion is that it was caused by sparks from a welding machine. Since a lot of wood and cardboard was used to prepare the set, the fire spread quickly and it needed five fire tenders to get the put it out.
