Naidu, KCR, Modi, Jagan : Of pet dogs and biscuits

With the election campaign in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh ending at 5 pm on 9 April, the leading lights of the political parties seem to be losing their cool. K Chandrasekhar Rao and Chandrababu Naidu crossed swords on Monday and the political discourse hit a new low.

After Naidu’s disparaging comments the previous day on Hyderabad, KCR tore into his Andhra counterpart, predicting he will lose very badly.

“His story is over,” said KCR.

Naidu hit back during his campaign in Machilipatnam calling KCR and Jaganmohan Reddy, the “pet dogs of Narendra Modi”.

“Shameless Jaganmohan Reddy is eating dog biscuits, he is distributing them to us also. Jagan and KCR are pet dogs for Modi, they will be at his feet for a single biscuit. Jagan is going to share those biscuits with you too, beware.”

Naidu also accused Modi and KCR of funding Jagan’s election campaign in Andhra.

KCR and Naidu have had the worst of political relations. In December 2018, KCR had described Naidu as “the dirtiest politician”. He accused him of changing his friends as per his convenience.

KCR had not spared Rahul Gandhi either. On 6 September 2018, the day his government recommended dissolution of the Telangana assembly, eight months ahead of schedule, he called the Congress president “the biggest buffoon”.

Even Jaganmohan Reddy in the past has used uncalled for language for Naidu. In August 2017, ahead of a bypoll in Nandyal in Kurnool district, Jagan said there was nothing wrong if Naidu was shot dead in public for the alleged wrongs that he had committed.
