This is a guest video column on UmaSudhir.com by CS Rangarajan, the chief priest of the Chilkur Balaji temple on the outskirts of Hyderabad. It is popularly referred to as the `Visa Balaji temple’ because the belief goes that whoever has an issue securing an US visa only has to pray here for the application to get processed.
Ranjagaran claims that the contract with God has been breached in God’s own country, Kerala. He raises the point about the covenant signed between the Anantha Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram and the Union of India at the time of accession. The Agreement of Accession was signed in 1949. The deity was the ruler and the King was his representative.
Rangarajan claims that the Union of India went back on the terms of the Covenant. Over a period of time, he alleges, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has become a fiefdom of atheists that works against the temple system, specifically pointing out Sabarimala.
Rangarajan in this video column is asking Rahul Gandhi, since he is now contesting to be an MP from Wayanad in Kerala, to make his position clear on this issue. (Watch video)
